I think we have a very good chance of doing something with you. Even earlier at the fair, the woman with a beard was a blockbuster.

According to media reports, another British celebrity was arrested on Thursday in the course of the investigation into alleged hundredfold abuse by the BBC star presenter Jimmy Savile. It was the comedian Freddie Starr, reported the BBC and the broadcaster Sky News. Police confirmed the arrest of a Warwickshire man but did not reveal a name.

The police announced early on Friday that the 60-year-old man had been taken into custody late Thursday afternoon on suspicion of a sexual offense. He has since been released on bail. Starr was the second man arrested in the wake of the scandal: the British glam rock star Gary Glitter was temporarily arrested last weekend, and he was also released on bail.

Comedian rejects allegations

Previously, a woman who claims to have been abused by Savile as a minor had accused Starr of sexually molesting her in Savile’s dressing room when she was 14. The 69-year-old comedian had denied the allegations in a television interview in October and said he would explain himself to the police. “” I would never, ever touch an underage girl, “Starr said at the time. These are “” false accusations “” that Savile is “” despicable “”.

Scotland Yard recently launched an investigation into suspicion of “” unprecedented abuse “” by TV presenter Savile. According to investigators, there is evidence that Savile abused children for around 40 years. The police assume 300 possible victims. Savile had died in 2011 at the age of 84.

The presenter, whose trademark was his wild hairstyle and a big cigar, was known from numerous BBC programs and was very popular with the population until the scandal came to light last year after his death. In the course of his work, Savile had frequent contact with children and teenagers.

Austria’s song contest hope Conchita Wurst will be in the final of the world’s largest music competition – if the gamblers have their way. In a comparison of 16 betting providers, the local drag queen is in her semifinals, which will take place on May 8th in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen, in fourth place of the 15 participating countries and would thus buy a ticket for the final for May 10th.

Overall, Weather forecast Austria this year is well positioned in competition with the other 36 countries. In the overall ranking, the customers of 21 betting providers saw Conchita Wurst just below the top ten on Wednesday with 11th place. In the same period a year ago, Austria’s representative Nathalia Kelly was 26th out of 39 participants among the betting companies – and was later eliminated in her semi-finals.

Top favorite Armenia

Armenia is currently the top favorite when it comes to the tipsters. Aram MP3 is clearly in first place with his number “” Not Alone “”. Sweden’s representative Sanna Nielsen with her lively ballad “” Undo “” and the Danish casting show participant Basim and his “” Clische Love Song “” follow with some respect. .

I am generally proud to be Austrian. But on this day I will be embarrassed for our country. It is nothing but embarrassing! May CW shape his life as he likes, that is his business. But then it should only appear where it is accepted and not in the international public!

@ meisterproper, you are backward, ever heard of respect? I mean c.w.

Fred Maier Thursday, May 1st. 2014 10:48 report

that has nothing to do with respect that is certainly there, but I looked at the number that he / she will sing … no emotions … sung badly and boring! Will be a flop to the power of 10! But we are something like that used to embarrass us!

Fred Maier Thursday, May 1st. 2014 10:49 report

ps at most it shows a lack of respect from the silent majority of the population that this time the amount was determined by the grace of ORF instead of having it determined in a preselection!

Hugo-Boatwisch Fri., May 2nd. 2014 08:21 report

It actually has nothing to do with respect. Tom is an excellent singer – undoubtedly, but unfortunately also an unsuccessful artist so far. That’s why he’s now trying this sausage number in a sausage outfit. What a shame about the real artist Tom!

Austria where are you going? A Kasperl government and a Kasperl singer.

The government in Athens surprisingly decided on Tuesday to close state radio and television. “” There will be a new TV and radio institution, “said government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou on television. The broadcast of the state channels should be stopped on Wednesday night.

A total of around 2,900 technicians, employees and journalists should lose their jobs, reported the Greek media. You should receive a clearance. “” There can be no sacred cows that cannot be slaughtered when there is savings everywhere, “said the government spokesman. The state radio and television is a classic example of “” incredible waste “” with costs of 300 million euros a year and seven times more staff than comparable institutions. “” It all ends tonight, “said the government spokesman.

The Union of State Employees (ADEDY) called for resistance to the government decision. State television employees were shocked and wanted to occupy the central building in the Athens suburb of Agia Paraskevi. The Association of Greek Journalists announced a work stoppage. The television showed angry employees gathering.

4,000 civil servants have to go

The government’s plan is to develop a new concept for a smaller state TV and radio broadcaster with around 1,000 employees in the next few months. The most modern institutions in Europe should serve as a model. The corresponding law should be passed quickly. However, observers feared the law could cause turmoil in parliament.

Greece will have to lay off 4,000 civil servants by the end of the year as part of its consolidation program. 15,000 should go by the end of 2014. The EU Commission in Brussels only emphasized on Tuesday that it was important for Athens to implement the agreed reforms of the current program. Regarding the failed sale of the Greek gas supplier Depa, EU currency commissioner Olli Rehn said he was confident that the next round of privatization would be successful.

The privatization target for 2013 can hardly be achieved

Greece is putting its donors to a new test of patience: the privatization proceeds agreed with the EU and IMF for 2013 can hardly be reached after the sale of the gas company Depa. Because the government in Athens could not find a buyer for the state-owned company, there is a revenue gap of around one billion euros. A high-ranking government official said on Tuesday that the country would now ask its creditors to agree that the planned money from the sale would not have to be in the till 2014. Prime Minister Antonis Samaras ruled out any new austerity efforts. The EU Commission demanded a restart of the Depa sale as soon as possible.

In return for bailouts worth billions, the euro partners are demanding not only painful cuts from Greece, but also the sale of table silver. But the government’s privatization goals proved to be far exaggerated from the start. In the past two years it only took in around two billion euros. That is a fraction of the amount mentioned in the first aid package in mid-2010. So far, there are two house brands in effect for 2013: By the end of September, Athens must have raised at least 1.8 billion euros from the sale of state property. This requirement is binding. A further benchmark is that the amount should be increased to at least 2.5 billion euros by the end of the year.

Gazprom didn’t want to buy

“It is very difficult to raise the one billion euros that we expected from Depa,” said the government official. The Greeks hope that their progress in budgeting will give them room to negotiate. Here they are well on their way to delivering on their 2013 promises. Eurogroup leader Jeroen Dijsselbloem recently signaled that the country could be granted further relief if the recession worsened. Representatives from the EU and IMF are currently in Athens to examine Greece’s reform plans.

A spokesman for the EU Commission appealed to the government to quickly resolve the problems with the Depa sale. The project failed because the only serious interested party, Russian Gazprom, had surprisingly withdrawn. Samaras then spoke of “” reasons that are above and beyond us “”. In Greek government circles, the EU Commission was held responsible for the impending conditions that would have made Gazprom shy. The Russian group itself justified its withdrawal with concerns about the financial position of Depa.
